Trionica & The Slovenian Fiddle Gang
The repertoire that you will hear tonight is a product of a year and a half deep studies of Transylvanian and Moldavian music that was brought to the Slovenian Fiddle Gang by Jean-Christophe Gairard. In summer 2021, they met at the “Balkan Fiddle Gate” masterclass in Slovenia for a deeper look into the content, discussing the style of performing, possible variations and accompaniments. Bojan Cvetrežnik invited two incredible musicians, Jošt Lampret (double bass) and Nejc Škofic (keyboards) to accept a challenge in being a rhythm section for this music beside Jean-Christophe on bratch and to perform a folk-fusion with him as a soloist on the violin. Trio Trionica was formed in the inspiring working week. All of them instantly fell in love with the music of the east Balkan.
After that, the Slovenian Fiddle Gang mastered the repertoire with their Slovenian mentors Bojan Cvetrežnik and Barja Drnovšek. They recorded a big series of web videos at the end
of last October. Some young players, that are led by
Godalkanje mentors from their early childhood, made another big step as performers with this production. And they don’t seem to stop here… The special result can be admired live in De Centrale during this 7th edition
of Fiddlers on the Move!
